We are proud to announce that Lisa Preiss Fried will be the Program Director for the American Academy in Jerusalem.
Lisa moved to Jerusalem in 1982, just two days after she received her BA summa cum laude in Middle Eastern Studies and Art History from Barnard College. She has spent the last 30 years doing community organizing and public relations work for the National Office of the Association of Americans and Canadians in Israel, The Hebrew University’s Center for Jewish Art, and as Assistant Director of the Los Angeles Jewish Federation’s Israel Office.
She joins the Foundation for Jewish Culture after working the past two years as the Jerusalem venture capitalist Erel Margalit’s Director of Strategic and Community Relations. In that capacity she was involved in numerous far-reaching projects created at Jerusalem Venture Partners to help revitalize Jerusalem through enhanced activity in the fields of education, culture and high-tech.
Lisa’s volunteer work includes two decades as a member of the Public Committee for the Batsheva Dance Company, the parents’ committee of Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Saalam elementary school, and recently she teaches English to at-risk youth through “JVP Bakehila” in the southern Jerusalem neighborhood of Talpiot.
